Our Head Office Operation, located in South Bank Brisbane, has an exciting new position for a Senior Network Engineer - Wireless.

About the role

As our next Senior Network Engineer, you will be required to design, document and coordinate implementation of Wireless and Wireless Mesh networks (including in-pit and underground) adhering to Network Policy and standards with the express purpose of providing the business with an exceptional communications environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide timely & quality support, investigation, response, feedback, escalation, assistance and resolution to incidents logged by the Thiess helpdesk
  • Ensure all incidents and work tasks are updated and maintained in a timely and informative manner to promote SLA compliance and knowledge
  • Provide feedback to clients on the status of faults and services requested
  • Ensure all systems and network services are available when required by the business and are performing as expected
  • Monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of the network and provide recommendations to improve performance and value to the Business
  • Ensure wireless networks adhere to security best practice
  • Assist procurement needs by obtaining prices and sourcing ICT supplies as required
  • Report at team meetings on project activities and support tasks

About you

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology
  • Advanced wireless certifications (e.g., CCIE Wireless Certification)
  • Minimum 5 years’ demonstrated experience in the operation and design of enterprise level wireless and wireless mesh networks (Autonomy and Pit Wireless highly regarded)
  • At least 3 years’ experience with on or more of the following wireless vendors or technologies: Ubiquiti, Cambium, Rajant, Cisco, LTE)
  • Experience working in an environment that is tracked via an incident management tool
  • Demonstrated experience in working with cloud networking and cloud applications
  • Expert level knowledge of all 802.11 wireless and RF standards (Australia and International) including antenna technologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Security concepts 802.1x and Cisco ISE in a production environment
  • Demonstrated experience with low loss wireless networks required to support autonomous vehicles
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Network Design fundamentals
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organisation
