About the role

As our next Health, Safety, Environment & Training (HSET) Superintendent reporting to the Project Manager you will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results. This position will be offered as full time, FIFO from Perth WA to a Northern Goldfields open cut mining operation, on a day shift only roster of 5/2 4/3.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage the maintenance and continuous improvement of on-site HSE Risk Management Systems
  • Lead a team of (currently) two HSE Advisors and two Trainer/Assessors
  • Advise and assist the Project Manager and site leadership team to ensure compliance with Legislative, Client HSECMS and Thiess requirements
  • Foster Health & Safety engagement with site employees and contractors whilst supporting the Project Manager to ensure alignment and delivery of contractual HSE KPIs

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in OH&S or a related field is highly desirable – Minimum Diploma level
  • Professional certification in a relevant filed is desirable
  • Extensive experience in health and safety roles including senior leadership roles
  • Demonstrated HSET experience in an operational open-cut mining environment
  • Strong understanding of mining equipment capability and capacity
  • Sound knowledge of West Australian OHS legislation and mine regulations
  • AS/NZ 4801.2001 Audit Qualification
  • Well-developed understanding of risk management, incident management and investigation protocols
  • Well-developed and effective skills in influencing managers, superintendents, supervisors and other staff across a mine site
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written ability to communicate at various levels
