About the role

As our next Senior Security Specialist based in our Brisbane office, you will ensure that appropriate information, cybersecurity controls and measures are in place by continually assessing the security posture, reviewing the internal and external threat landscapes, providing reports and recommendations to Thiess management.

In this role, you will also be responsible for:

  • Delivering approved security initiatives
  • Contributing to the development, documentation, training and marketing of the information security strategic plan and information security management system
  • Assisting with the development of a compliance framework with metrics to establish and improve compliance against standards and targets
  • Ensuring that all approved actions from audits are tracked and reported on
  • Contributing to or facilitating forensic investigations as required
  • Conducting security risk assessments and contributing to vulnerability assessments
  • Reporting on security incidents and ensuring the security register is maintained

About you

This role will best suit someone who possesses:

  • Relevant qualification or certificate in Cyber Risk and Security
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a global IT team with a high level of exposure to large enterprise applications and solution architecture
  • A minimum of three years’ in a dedicated information security role (security operations, architecture or governance)
  • A high level of exposure to the NIST Cyber Security Framework and ISO27001 standards
  • Strong experience in conducting security risk assessments
  • Experience using software within the Microsoft Azure cloud platform and related services, including Microsoft’s Sentinel (SIEM) and E5 Security Suite expertise
  • A high level of experience with Microsoft, Cisco and Palo Alto technologies, including web and mail security, anti-malware and endpoint protection tools, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanning and investigation tools
