Location: Alice Springs, NT
About the role:
Seeking a qualified Terminal Locomotive Driver to join the Aurizon Alice Springs NT depot. This role will provide yard shunting services and yard information to the Terminal leadership team in the Alice Springs depot.
We’re open to flexible employment arrangements, including full-time, part-time, casual, or fixed-term options. Please note this is not a FIFO/DIDO position.

This role will see you:
- Plan and implement yard shunting operations.
- Perform safe and efficient shunting functions in yards and terminals.
- Undertake train integrity and examination.
- Carry out minor maintenance of yard facilities.
- Provide yard reports.
- Perform the function of observer on designated corridors.
- Carry out wagon inspections.
- Liaise with the team to ensure effective and safety-first lead yard operations.
- Perform train movements within the yard (where qualified)
- Generate train consist – Locomotive and wagon ID numbering, ensure consist integrity electronically and or manually.
About you:
- Minimum Cert III in Terminal Train Driving (freight)
- Ability to successfully pass pre-employment checks such as driving history checks, reference checks and a CAT 1 Rail medical is a requirement.
- A strong commitment to safety and proven ability to apply safety management principles.
- Current unrestricted Class C drivers’ licence.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including direct customer contact.
- Strong decision making and problem-solving skills, often under pressure.
- Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
- Demonstrable ability to work as a team member.
- Possess high levels of concentration.
