The Opportunity

Are you an experienced research and/or education legal professional looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact in the education sector? 

We are seeking a Lawyer with experience in the areas of research, intellectual property and/or education to join our dynamic in-house legal team within the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) at Monash. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support key Monash activities managing complex legal matters and fostering collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.

The Lawyer supports the General Counsel and Director, Research & Education, in the provision of timely and authoritative legal advice and services to university officers and senior management on a wide range of matters arising from teaching and learning, intellectual property and research activities and national and international collaboration initiatives, as well as day to day legal issues arising for a large and internationally focused university. 

As the successful candidate you will produce quality research, advice and documents appropriate to clients’ needs associated with each matter that is being handled and develop an understanding of the University’s strategic objectives and the business imperatives. Further, you will be expected to develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients to understand the advice and legal assistance being sought and seek to ensure all reasonable expectations are met.

The successful candidate will have minimum 3 years' post qualifications experience with a current, unrestricted, Legal Practising Certificate and experience in intellectual property law.
