Overview

Under the direct supervision of a responsible senior professional, you will contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive and integrated range of health services appropriate to the needs of the local community. To achieve this, you will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, including health professionals and service providers from other sectors. You will utilise a combination of preventative, early intervention, treatment/therapy and evaluation approaches in occupational therapy. You may provide a broad range of clinical and consultative OT services across a range of service settings and episode types, including My Aged care; community outpatients and supporting the inpatient setting as required.  As well as managing and prioritising your personal workload, service provision will include home safety assessments, short term outpatient interventions and equipment prescription and home modification recommendations. Applying primary health care and community participation principles, you will ensure that occupational therapy services are responsive to changing community needs and improve health outcomes.

You will need to hold an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, and fulfill all requirements to achieve and maintain current registration. You will be capable of supporting consumers across the patient journey, providing effective assessment and triage, timely referrals, accurate information, coordinated care and prompt follow-up. You will work well within a multidisciplinary team setting and bring the ability to interact positively with all levels of departmental and organisational staff. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will equip you to interact effectively with patients and families from a diverse range of backgrounds.
