Join our Rehabilitation team as a Consultant and help support our commitment to quality patient care.

The Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) provides several inpatient rehabilitation services in dedicated spaces across Flinders Medical Centre, Noarlunga Hospital, and Repat Health Precinct.

These services aim to provide a bridge between hospital stay and return to the community, bringing together skilled staff from a variety of areas to support every area of the patient’s care.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Head of Unit - Rehabilitation Medicine, this role is will be working on Rehabilitation services (wards, ambulatory programs, triage and inreach), rehabilitation outpatient clinics, and outreach services to country SA rehabilitation units.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Providing treatments and assessment for outpatients referred to the Rehabilitation service in an area agreed with the Director,
  • Provide a high quality clinical service and clinical leadership by providing appropriate specialist level care to patients,
  • Participating in the training program provided to rehabilitation trainees in Southern Adelaide (expectation is one hour per week is spent with each trainee supervised and in addition attendance at group teaching sessions,
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous service improvement by participating in departmental peer review and audit activities.

About you:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
  • Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration (Rehabilitation Medicine); or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award,
  • Demonstrated high standard of clinical practice in Rehabilitation Medicine,
  • Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff,
  • Demonstrated participation in approved continuing medical education since attaining specialist qualification,
  • Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff,
  • Extensive clinical experience relevant to work in Rehabilitation Medicine.
