Duration of the training program: 12 months from 2/2/26 up to 31/1/27

Term of the Contract: 3 Years in line with clause 52 of the Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement

At the end of the training program, CALHN will work with the employee to find a suitable placement within SA Health for the remainder of the 3 year contract.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Adult Genetic Unit as a trainee in clinical genetics (General and/or Cancer Genetics). This is an accredited advanced training position for trainees in either the Paediatric or Adult Division of the RACP.

A broad range of applicants will be considered including

  • Clinical Genetics trainees
  • Applicants who have finished their specialist training seeking experience in Clinical Genetics
  • Trainees in medical and surgical specialties seeking experience in Clinical Genetics
  • Applicants wishing to do cancer genetics only
  • Applicants who wish to work part-time or job share

Join our dynamic Adult Genetics team and play a vital role in delivering specialist care across SA Health sites. As part of a collaborative and progressive service within the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN), you'll contribute to the ongoing development of genetic medicine through outpatient and inpatient care, teaching, and clinical research. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a service aligned with the values and philosophies of CALHN and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), where your commitment to patient-centred care and academic excellence will be highly valued.

In this role, you will provide comprehensive care to both public and private patients, under the guidance of experienced senior clinicians and genetic counsellors. You’ll also be actively involved in teaching and research, helping to shape the future of clinical genetics in South Australia. About You

You are a dedicated and collaborative medical professional with a strong clinical foundation and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care. You’re eager to grow within the field of genetics and contribute meaningfully to a multidisciplinary team.

  • Hold a registrable medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and AHPRA registration

  • Minimum of four years’ experience as a medical practitioner with sound clinical skills

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and decision-making abilities

  • Committed to continuous learning, professional development, and teamwork
