Consultant Psychiatrist - Mental Health Rehabilitation | SA Health Noarlunga 

Join our dedicated team at Noarlunga Mental Health Rehabilitation Services as a Consultant Psychiatrist, where you'll provide expert psychiatric care and rehabilitation support to patients requiring intensive mental health intervention. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams using evidence-based approaches in modern facilities across Adelaide's southern region. About the role: 

Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role is responsible for providing clinical services of the highest possible standard to MHRS patients, both in terms of individual performance and by providing clinical leadership and contribution to a multidisciplinary approach to the delivery of patient care. The Consultant Psychiatrist is actively involved in teaching medical students and trainee medical officers and where appropriate Nursing and Allied Health. They participate in clinical audit and quality, continuous improvement, safety and clinical risk management activities and continuous medical education activities

Duties for the role will include:

  • Commitment to the provision of a multidisciplinary approach to clinical care, quality improvement and research,
  • Ensuring that patients and families are given adequate information upon which to base treatment decisions and follow up,
  • Providing clinical supervision to Senior Medical Practitioners, Trainee Medical Officers and Medical Students,
  • Contributing to an after-hours on-call service in accordance with a roster agreed by the Department Director,
  • Ensuring the maintenance of comprehensive clinical records which document significant patient management decisions

About you:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration (Psychiatry); or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award,
  • Demonstrated high standard of clinical practice in Psychiatry,
  • Demonstrated professional integrity, leadership and motivational skills working within a recovery-orientated approach,
  • Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of professional judgement and medical competence in a multidisciplinary setting,
  • Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff,
  • Extensive clinical experience relevant to work in Psychiatry,
  • Experience in a variety of settings working with a range of populations including Indigenous and culturally and linguistically diverse communities would be an advantage
