About the Role:

An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Registered/Clinical Nurse within the mental health Forensic Inpatient Unit.

The Forensic Mental Health Service is a statewide service providing mental health services for the north and north east of metropolitan Adelaide and statewide mental health services for forensic patients and prisoners. Forensic Inpatient Services provide custody and care to forensic patients committed to detention, forensic patients released on licence who become acutely unwell and to prisoners requiring inpatient care.

As a RN1 - The Successful applicant will provide nursing services in health service settings. Employees working within this level develop from novice practitioners to a proficient level of professional practice. They consolidate knowledge and skills and develop in capability through continuous professional development and experience. An employee at this level accepts accountability for his or her own standards of nursing care and for activities delegated to others.

As a RN2 - The Successful applicant will provide nursing and services in a variety of health service settings which has been consolidated by experience and/or further study with staff at this level developing from competent to proficient practitioners.

Accepts accountability for their own practice standards, activities delegated to others and the guidance and development of less experienced staff.
 
The Clinical Nurse role at this level continues to be predominantly clinical in nature; however, employees are assigned appropriate portfolios. The allocation of portfolio responsibilities should be negotiated with each employee and be consistent with the career development plan for the employee as determined by their performance review/development plan.

To be eligible for this position, you must

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or holds a qualification in mental health practice.
