About the role

Join a busy, supportive hospital pharmacy team as a Pharmacy Assistant, classification aligned to your current skills and experience at AHA1 or AHA2 level. This is a great opportunity to build a solid foundation in hospital pharmacy, with structured development, hands-on learning and clear progression pathways. You’ll play an important part in delivering safe, timely and patient-focused medication services for inpatients and outpatients across multiple sites.

In this role, you’ll support dispensing, distribution, imprest stock management and day-to-day dispensary operations, using pharmacy management systems to ensure accuracy, compliance and quality. Depending on your level, you’ll work under supervision or with increasing autonomy, contribute to manufacturing and inventory activities, assist pharmacists and clinical teams, respond to enquiries, and help maintain a safe, efficient pharmacy environment. At AHA2 level, you’ll also support workflow coordination, staff training and more complex technical and production tasks, making a meaningful impact on patient care and team performance.

About You

To succeed in this Pharmacy Assistant role (AHA1 or AHA2), you will bring a strong commitment to learning, accuracy and teamwork, with the capability to support safe, efficient and patient-centred pharmacy services within a hospital environment.

  • Qualifications & eligibility: Eligible and willing to undertake Certificate III (or above) training (AHA1), or hold/undertake a relevant Certificate III or higher with demonstrated progression and eligibility as an AHA2.

  • Skills & capabilities: Strong numeracy, written communication and technical skills, with excellent attention to detail, organisation and the ability to follow policies, procedures and safe work practices.

  • Team & communication focus: Effective communicator who works well in a team environment, engaging respectfully with diverse patients and colleagues, and able to work under supervision or with increasing independence as appropriate.

  • Experience & knowledge: Experience in a service or pharmacy setting, understanding of patient confidentiality and ethical practice, with AHA2 applicants also bringing proven hospital pharmacy experience, knowledge of PBS, pharmacy systems and medication processes.
