The Opportunity

Based at Malaga, WA the Education Officers works closely the Resource Recovery Specialists and focuses on increasing participation in waste reduction, resource recovery, changing waste behaviour and reducing contamination rates.  This is achieved through delivering a range of educational activities such as workshops, presentations, audits and landfill tours for customers, which include local councils, businesses, schools, and various communities. 

  • Collaborate with local communities to increase engagement in waste reduction and resource recovery activities by outlining the benefits of waste reduction and resource recovery
  • Develop and deliver educational activities such as workshops, presentations, and landfill tours for customers, which include councils, local businesses, schools, and community groups
  • Improve waste behaviours and recycling contamination rates through waste education programs
  • Participate in local council community events and festivals
  • Coordinate a busy work schedule, including organising events and managing program bookings
  • Ensure timely completion of regular reporting requirements

 

About You

Your talent for proactively engaging with others, your passion for environment, sustainability and recycling together with a desire to educate others will provide you with the building blocks to succeed in this unique opportunity.  Additionally, you will also possess...

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in waste management or environmental sustainability, experience in renewable resources
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a natural flair for speaking at various community events
  • Experience in preparing and delivering presentations to a variety of audiences
  • Excellent time management skills and a proactive approach to event planning
  • Hold a tertiary qualification, preferably in environmental science or education-related fields
