About the Role

  • Driving utilisation improvements and reduce idle assets through effective allocation and substitution planning.
  • Monitor regulatory requirements and escalate emerging safety and compliance risks.
  • Collaborate with Fleet Build & Delivery to align asset specifications with operational needs.
  • Provide insights for tenders, business cases, and lifecycle modelling.
  • Manage hire, rental, and substitution strategies for cost, risk and service continuity.
  • Support trials of alternative fuels and new technologies aligned with decarbonisation goals and operational efficiencies or safety improvements.
  • Analyse financial performance and drive cost, reliability, and downtime improvements.
  • Conduct supplier and workshop reviews to maintain strong governance and quality outcomes.
  • Oversee asset onboarding and disposal with strong governance and data accuracy.
  • Coach and support operational teams to uplift fleet capability nationwide.

About You

You are a strategic, forward‑thinking leader with deep experience in fleet, asset, or operations management. You excel in complex environments, bring strong commercial acumen, and influence effectively across diverse stakeholders. You have a calm, credible leadership style with the ability to lead through change and balance risk, compliance, and service delivery

You bring:

  • Experience managing large, mixed fleets (heavy vehicles, mobile plant, light vehicles).
  • Expertise in asset management, logistics, operations, or engineering.
  • Proven success improving fleet utilisation, workshop performance, and lifecycle outcomes.
  • Experience in regulated industries (waste, transport, mining, utilities, construction).
  • Knowledge of alternative fuels (EV, LNG, hydrogen, biofuels) and sustainability strategies.
  • Strong data and analytical capability, with confidence using Microsoft Office and fleet systems
  • Familiarity with DAMS/AMS/CMMS systems, telematics, and fleet analytics tools.
