Job Summary: The MRI Technologist completes all MRI and x-ray procedures. Screens and positions patients. Selects proper coil and protocol. Starts IV lines for injection. Uses power injectors. Administers contrast materials under physician supervision. Produces quality images for radiologist interpretation.
Additional Department Summary: Provides diagnostic patient care services using MRI, x-ray, and related diagnostic equipment and procedures at various CCHS and University Medical Center clinic locations. Works directly with patients and physicians and operates MRI and x-ray equipment. Explains MRI and x-ray procedures to patients. Evaluates images for technical quality and presents images and preliminary findings to physicians and the healthcare team. Collects and processes venipuncture samples by accepted methods for use in laboratory analysis and testing as directed. Maintains patient records and medical notes related to imaging and laboratory procedures.
This position will travel to rural UMC clinic locations, including Livingston, AL and Carrollton, AL to provide imaging services as needed.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Graduate from a Radiology educational program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Registered Technologist with Magnetic Resonance Imaging Designation (R.T.(MR)(ARRT)) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or able to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Completion of Radiologic Technologist certification program (24-month) and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in radiography (R.T. (R)(ARRT)).
Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
Skills and Knowledge: Ability to perform MRI and x-ray services as directed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or other qualified medical professional. Knowledge of radiation protection and MRI safety practices. Ability to present information clearly and professionally throughout the patient care process. Knowledge/experience with electronic health record systems. Proficiency in the use of standard computer application software.
Efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment. Desire to exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy, and tact in patient/staff interactions. Willingness to learn and consistently deliver patient-centered, high-quality customer service. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of protected health information and follow HIPAA regulations at all times. Ability to travel to rural clinic locations as assigned. Punctual and reliable, ability to work extended hours as needed to support clinic operations.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience with electronic health record systems and PACS systems. Previous experience with Siemens MRI Scanners, Phillips MRI Scanners and GE MRI Scanners is greatly preferred. Previous experience with use of power injectors for the administration of I.V. contrast.
