Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; some evening/weekend hours as needed.


Job Summary: The RN II provides professional nursing care to patients. Reviews physicians' orders for accuracy and authorization prior to implementing them. Prescribes and initiates nursing treatment through direct, assisted, or delegation to other staff. Leads specialized area of nursing for department. Provides guidance and direction to other staff.


Additional Department Summary: Provides administrative direction and supervision for patient care services at UMC Livingston and UMC Demopolis clinics. Provides professional nursing care to patients within the scope of RN licensure. Reviews physicians' orders for accuracy and authorization prior to implementing them. Prescribes and initiates nursing treatment through direct, assisted or delegation to other staff.

Collaborates with Assistant Director UMC Nursing Services and Chief Nursing Officer to manage care provided in the clinics. Facilitates support for providers - physicians and nurse practitioners, to support patient-centered medical home model for the delivery of quality healthcare. Maintains strict confidentiality of protected health information and follows HIPAA regulations at all times. Provides excellent service and performs job duties/responsibilities consistent with UA’s values and principles.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Alabama in good standing and two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.


Skills and Knowledge: Ability to perform patient care as directed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or other qualified medical professional. Efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills. Demonstrated knowledge/experience in use of electronic health record system. Excellent communication, public relations, customer service, and telephone etiquette skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.

Willingness to learn and consistently deliver patient-centered, high-quality customer friendly service. Punctual and reliable, ability to work extended hours as needed during busier clinic times.


Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) years of nursing experience to include initiative leadership and other clinical administrative functions.
