The AI-Powered Athletics team is seeking highly motivated candidates for a postdoctoral position. This position will be directly supervised by Dr. Jennifer Nichols in the J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering within the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at University of Florida (UF).
AI-Powered Athletics (https://aipoweredathletics.eng.ufl.edu/) is a collaboration between the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) and the University Athletics Association (UAA). A cornerstone of the project is a comprehensive, research databank that integrates data from UF student-athletes on health, nutrition, academic performance, and sports performance, including wearable sensors at practices and games.
The University of Florida is the flagship campus of the State of Florida university system and is consistently ranked among the nation’s top public universities. UF is home to HiPerGator, the fastest AI supercomputer in higher education, and the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering is undergoing a major expansion in faculty, research, and facilities with a strong focus on artificial intelligence. The University of Florida is also one of only a few comprehensive universities, having medical, veterinary, dental, nursing, public health, and engineering disciplines all co-localized on the same, contiguous campus. UF is a highly collaborative environment that provides researchers with many opportunities for learning (e.g., top seminar programs, excellent core research facilities) and research collaborations. The city of Gainesville is a university town with a relatively low cost of living, a high quality of life, and a location ~2 hours from 3 major cities (Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville). The University and College count among its greatest strengths a community of faculty, students and staff having diverse perspectives who support a culture of respect and dignity where learning and research thrive. |
