Job Description:

The University of Florida Herbarium (in the Florida Museum of Natural History) has a Federal Work Study (FWS) position available to work on processing dried museum specimens of vascular plants. Duties include handling fragile herbarium specimens, gluing and sewing specimens with archival methods for long-term preservation and study, organizing and filing, typing information from specimen labels into database fields, and imaging specimens with a fixed, mounted camera. Tasks require meticulous care and attention to detail. The hours are flexible but a regular schedule of 6-12 hours per week is desirable

Expected Salary:

$14 an hour 

Required Qualifications:

Preferred:

Familiarity with general botany and plant taxonomy can be helpful but is not requisite.
