The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, a NCAA Division I institution and member of the Southern Conference, invites applications for the position of Director of Creative Services within the office of Athletic Communications in the Athletic Department. The successful candidate for this position will be part of the external operations team and will:

  • Serve as the primary graphic designer for The Citadel’s Athletic Department and Athletic Communications Office.
  • Serve as the secondary videographer for The Citadel’s Athletic Department and Athletic Communications Office.
  • Design a range of content for the official athletics website, athletics social media, and athletic marketing & promotional print materials (billboards, schedule cards, etc.); Collaborate with the external operations team to conceptualize, create, and distribute strategic and cutting-edge content inclusive of graphics, video, and digital assets.
  • Design and produce athletic department’s primary print collateral including sport season posters, key visual components of digital programs, and schedule cards.
  • Provide design elements and support for social media strategies and content for Citadel athletic social media accounts.
  • Provide additional oversight and content management for The Citadel athletic social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) with a strong emphasis on in-game content to maximize coverage, interaction, and growth.
  • Assist Ticketing and Marketing operations in creating unique and original content to enhance ticket sales, increase fan engagement, and promote fan experience. 
  • Assist in managing of The Citadel’s official athletics website (citadelsports.com), and assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications with liaison responsibilities with the athletic department’s website provider (SIDEARM Sports).
  • Serve as a member of the athletic communications game day operations staff as a content producer via videography or photography
  • Be responsible for meeting deadlines and coordinating multiple tasks effectively and efficiently.
  • Be responsible for understanding and adhering to all Citadel, Southern Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Be self-motived, have knowledge and strong interest in college athletics, game production, social media, and digital marketing.
  • Be expected to personify The Citadel’s core values of Honor, Duty and Respect.
  • Be required to attend games and events and work extended hours, including occasional nights, weekends and holidays; Occasional travel may be required in order to perform assigned job functions.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, graphic design, or related field.
  • Experience in web design and professional utilization of social media.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Premier & After Effects
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Social media experience, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. 

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience as a graphic designer / videographer in a professional or college sports setting.
