Job description:

The RHH is Tasmania’s largest public tertiary teaching hospital. You will join a growing team of enthusiastic dietitians working across medical, surgical, oncology and subacute care. We strive for optimal patient care by aligning with multidisciplinary teams in specialty areas.

The Team:

The Tasmanian Health Service – Southern Region Nutrition and Dietetics team is in Hobart and consists of the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH), and rehab and community sites. The RHH is Tasmania’s largest public tertiary teaching hospital. You will join a growing team of enthusiastic dietitians working across medical, surgical, oncology and subacute care. We strive for optimal patient care by aligning with multidisciplinary teams in specialty areas.

The Role:

As an effective member of multidisciplinary teams, the Dietitian:

  • Provides a professional clinical dietetic service to patients within the allocated clinical workload in accordance with organisational Policies, Best Practice Standards and the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) Code of Conduct.
  • Contributes to the overall functioning of the Nutrition and Dietetic Service and other health teams and engages positively in the ongoing development of existing and new services.

Duties:

  • Provide professional high quality and evidence based clinical dietetic services (including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring and evaluation) to individuals, groups or communities within the allocated work areas. 

  • Participate as an effective member of both the dietetics and multidisciplinary teams; including liaising with other departments and attending and contributing at ward meetings, discharge planning meetings and case conferences, when appropriate.

  • Contribute to the development of the service by initiating and participating in planning activities, quality improvement projects and review of service policies, procedures and resources.

  • Assist with provision of nutrition education via student supervision and in-services education to staff as appropriate..

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $73,834 to $111,364 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study accredited by Dietitians Australia. Overseas qualified dietitians will be required to complete Dietetic Skills Recognition (DSR) through Dietitians Australia
  • Eligible for full membership with the Dietitians Australia.
  • Eligible to join the Accredited Practising Dietitian Program.

  • Full member of Dietitians Australia
  • Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)
