Job description:

The Audiology service at the Royal Hobart Hospital continues to grow and new opportunities have arisen, with more hours available for multiple highly motivated, dynamic, progressive, enthusiastic Diagnostic Audiologists to join our team working in Diagnostic and Cochlear Implant Audiology.

The Audiology service at the Royal Hobart Hospital continues to grow and new opportunities have arisen, with more hours available for a highly motivated, dynamic, progressive, enthusiastic Diagnostic Audiologist to join our team working in Diagnostic and Cochlear Implant Audiology.

The Role:

As part of the multidisciplinary Statewide Audiology Service, the Diagnostic Audiologist:
  • Provides high level audiological diagnosis and management to adults and children referred to the service.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the Audiology component of the Tasmanian Cochlear Implant Program and Tasmanian Newborn Hearing Screening Program. This includes:
    • Providing cochlear implant assessments and rehabilitation to children & adults.
    • Undertaking infant diagnostic assessments.
    • Providing information and advice to patients and their families on the suitability of available treatment options including implantable technology.

You will need 

  • Broad knowledge of, and demonstrated clinical expertise in, paediatric audiological assessment, management and rehabilitation, including the assessment of infants and children with additional disabilities.
  • Proven experience in fitting and monitoring amplification and assistive hearing technology, including Cochlear Implants.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgement and initiative and manage a complex case load without supervision.

Details of appointment:

One permanent full time and one permanent part time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $110,425 to $119,290 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Allowances: 

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Satisfactory completion of an appropriate course of study* from a recognised tertiary institution

  • Current Working with Children Registration

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment.
