Job description:
Provide property valuation and consultative advice to the Valuer-General and stakeholders on a state-wide basis.

The Office of the Valuer-General is seeking two Valuers to the join the Launceston Office and one Valuer to join the Hobart office (three positions available). These permanent roles are open to both Band 1 (early career) and Band 2 (experienced) property valuers. The complexity and variety of work will align with your experience and development needs.
In this role you will:
- Undertake statutory valuations under the Valuation of Land Act 2001 and contribute to statewide quality assurance.
- Review valuations completed by contract Valuers for rating, sale, purchase and rental purposes.
- Conduct client and compulsory acquisition valuations and assist with negotiations toward settlement.
- Provide valuation and consultative advice to the Valuer-General and a wide range of stakeholders.
- Liaise with councils, government agencies and contractors on valuation matters.
- Represent the Office of the Valuer-General and appear as an expert witness in routine matters when required.
- Support continuous improvement of valuation systems and work practices.

What we're looking for
Our ideal candidate has:
- Sound knowledge in contemporary valuation principles and practices.
- A good understanding of the legislative and regulatory framework relevant to statutory valuations including the Valuation of Land Act 2001 and the Land Acquisition Act 1993.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a professional team.
- Strong organisation and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work and deliver in an agile team environment across intrastate geographic regions.
Essential Requirements
To meet the Band 1 requirements, you must have:
- A Degree in Business Studies (or similar), majoring in property valuations; and
- A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
To meet the Band 2 requirements, you must have all of the above plus:
- Meet the necessary qualifications to practice as a Land Valuer in accordance with the Land Valuers Act 2001. This means candidates must have the required practical experience as determined by the Australian Property Institute and be a Certified Practising Valuer.
