Job description:

Coordinate daily imaging operations, support senior leaders, guide service development, and deputise for the Chief Radiographer as needed across sites

The Team:

The team supporting the Deputy Chief Medical Imaging Technologist in Tasmania is a collaborative, high‑performing group responsible for delivering high‑quality diagnostic imaging services across clinical settings. As described in current role information, the Deputy Chief MIT works closely with the Chief Radiographer/Area Chief and the Regional Manager to coordinate day‑to‑day operations, supervise staff, and maintain excellence in service delivery. This team culture emphasises professionalism, strong communication, and continuous improvement, with technologists supported through mentorship, clinical guidance, and opportunities for development in both technical and leadership capacities. The Role:

  • Assume responsibilities for the coordination of the day of day operation of medical imaging, working collaboratively with the Chief Radiographer, Director of Radiology, Operations Manager and other senior staff.
  • Within a tertiary hospital setting and in accordance with the Agency’s policies, procedures and legal requirements, in collaboration with the Chief Radiographer provide leadership and direction in the development and governance of Imaging Services at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) and RHH offsite facilities
  • Deputise for the Chief Radiographer as required or directed at a departmental and hospital level.

You will need to:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Medical Imaging Service, liaising with the medical imaging at all levels and liaising with other hospital departments to ensure a collaborative approach to providing optimal imaging service to patients and providing direct clinical services as required.
  • Assist the Chief Radiographer in efficient and effective use of human and financial resources across Medical Imaging Services ensuring competence and accountability for staff.
  • In consultation with the Chief Radiographer oversee the development, implementation and revision of induction and training programs for all radiographers, nuclear medicine technologists and sonographers.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary: $143,677 to $151,608 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Allowances: 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia
  • Licenced to practice under Tasmanian Radiation Protection Act 2005 and the Radiation Protection Regulations 2016
  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

  • Post graduate qualification/s relevant to Medical Imaging and/or public health.
  • Minimum of eight years post graduate experience in Medical Imaging
