Job description:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Manager – Recruitment to provide statewide leadership of recruitment services across the Department of Health. This role leads a contemporary recruitment function, provides high‑level advice to senior leaders, and supports the Department to attract, recruit, and retain a skilled and diverse workforce.

The Team

Recruitment Services sits within People and Culture and works closely with business units and managers, to provide advice, support and actioning of all recruitment activities undertaken within the Department of Health, incorporating the Tasmanian Health Service. Recruitment includes but is not limited to, advertising, selection, appointment, pre-employment checks, job design/positional management, talent acquisition and talent pipelining.

The Role

The Manager - Recruitment provides statewide direction and leadership of contemporary and responsive recruitment function and strategy across the Department of Health (DoH) with the overarching aim being to implement strategies to better position the DoH with respect to recruitment and retention. The Manager is responsible for providing direction and leadership on recruitment in the Department, including advice to Executive and Senior manager, whilst managing operations of the team.

You will need 

  • Comprehensive understanding of contemporary workforce issues and trends and substantial experience in human resource management, workforce change management, recruitment/talent, and project coordination.
  • Demonstrated highly developed strategic, conceptual, diagnostic and analytical skills including the ability to adapt to change and be flexible in order to provide high-level advice and consultancy services on HR issues at a range of levels and to broker appropriate solutions in a complex environment. 
  • Proven leadership qualities, including a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate staff along with an expertise in change management.

Details of appointment

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight. 
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$139,470 to $x148,863 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Salary range is in accordance with the Health and Human Services (Tasmanian State Service) Award (HAHSA) and the Public Sector Union Wages Agreement (PSUWA)

Eligibility

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or extensive experience in the management and delivery of recruitment services and/or human resources, preferably in a health/hospital setting
