Job description:
The Manager of Information Management and Right to Information provides specialist leadership in the management and release of Departmental information including Right to Information applications, requests to access personal information under the Personal Information Protection Act, responding to subpoenas and other requests for information. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with legislation such as the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act), the Personal Information Protection Act 2004, and the Children, Young People and Their Families Act 1997.
The Manager - Information Management and Right to Information oversees the operations of the Information Services Team, including the coordination of sensitive and complex information requests including from various court and tribunals, and ensures responses meet legislative and court-imposed timeframes. The role also involves making delegated decisions under the RTI Act and maintaining high standards of confidentiality and professional judgement.
In addition, the role is responsible for developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and training resources to support consistent and legally compliant practices across the Department. It requires strategic engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including legal professionals and inter-agency forums, to support policy development and monitor emerging issues. The occupant is expected to provide specialist guidance, manage complaints, and contribute to continuous improvement in information governance and service delivery.
