What you'll be responsible for
You will work closely with the Tourism Tasmania executive team, to help lead the people and culture strategy at the agency. You will assist in the design, development and implementation of our people program, including ensuring alignment with strategic goals. This role involves providing expert human resource advice, supporting managers and fostering a positive and inclusive culture across the agency.
You will work collaboratively to enhance employee engagement, build a high- performance agency and positive culture, directly delivering initiatives, as well as supporting staff and managers to achieve their goals.
What you'll work on
- In consultation with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Chief Operating Officer (COO), implement an effective contemporary and future focussed people and culture program across the employee lifecycle to enhance employee experience, culture, wellbeing and brand reputation of the organisation.
- Together with the CEO, COO, and Executive Team undertake a leadership role on the integration of our values through the organisation and foster the development of a higher performance workplace culture.
- Manage the design, development, implementation and review of people policies, procedures and programs, including strategic workforce planning, performance and development planning, leadership and management development, employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, and talent and succession planning.
- Liaise with Tourism Tasmania’s Service Level Agreement partner regarding complex human resource challenges including the early intervention or resolution of work-related issues, employee relationships and industrial matters.
- With the support of our people partners, provide advice on operational people matters, risks, issues and trends which support, develop and improve culture, ensuring our staff are engaged, inspired and supported to achieve Tourism Tasmania’s objectives.
- Ensure the delivery of effective human resources services and advice across all people related areas including performance, capability, organisational design, conflict resolution and employee relations, utilising the support of our people partners.
- Provide authoritative advice to the Executive Team on organisational change management processes, supporting the design and implementation of change strategies enabling managers to engage and manage the workforce to achieve business outcomes.
- Coach and support managers in handling workplace disputes, complaints, and grievances, fostering positive relationships and effective resolutions, building ownership in responding to challenges.
- Coach and support managers through training and development opportunities.
- Monitor key HR metrics (turnover, absenteeism, engagement, employee relations trends) and provide insights to leadership to improve workforce outcomes.
- Lead the small People and Culture team at Tourism Tasmania, and work in with the extended team through our service level agreement.
