Job description:

The position contributes to the efficient operation of the Protective Division of the TASCAT (the Tribunal) by undertaking and supervising administrative tasks associated with the effective functioning of the Tribunal. This role is responsible for the management of forensic matters; case assessment/intake analysis of applications and preparation of relevant reports, and provision of advice, guidance and support to the Advisory Officers and Registry Clerks.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Location

One vacancy is located in the North (Launceston) and one in the South (Hobart).  Please indicate your location preference on the application form.

Duties

  • Provide information and advice, including telephone advice, on procedural and process matters concerning the Tribunal to a broad range of persons and bodies.
  • Supervise and provide a wide range of administrative duties for the efficient and effective delivery of services relating to the Tribunal including Tribunal member rosters, hearing listings, managing video conference and teleconferences as required, receiving and processing of applications and determinations, processing and managing requests for reviews and management of registers.
  • Manage applications and forensic matters including both physical and electronic files, the scheduling of hearings, management and preparation of relevant reports, preparing hearing notices and hearing papers, preparation of correspondence, booking venues and liaising with relevant stakeholders and Tribunal members.
  • Liaise with all persons or organisations concerned with matters within the jurisdiction of the Tribunal, including compiling evidence and hearing papers for the Tribunal to consider at hearing. Liaise with service providers to ensure information is provided to the Tribunal in compliance with the legislation.  Liaise with applicants, families and persons the subject of proceedings to assist them understand the Tribunal’s role and procedures and to make all necessary pre-hearing inquiries.
  • Assist in the management of the Tribunal case management system where required.
  • Provide executive support to the Statutory Officers, Sessional Members and Registrars as required.
  • To undertake additional duties as directed by the Principal Registrar or President.

Pre-employment (National Police Record) checks for: Arson and fire setting, violent crimes and crimes against the person, sex-related offences, drug and alcohol related offences, crimes involving dishonesty, deception and/or conspiracy, making false declarations, malicious damage and destruction to property, serious traffic offences, crimes against public order or relating to the Administration of Law and Justice, Executive or the Legislative Power.
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment.
  3. Identification check.
