Job description:

Lead and coordinate strategic and operational environment policy and projects & provide advice to support conservation & natural resource management.

About the role

The Section Head, Environment Policy and Projects provides strategic leadership and oversight for the development of complex environmental policy and legislative initiatives. The role is responsible for delivering high-level advice, directing significant reform programs and guiding a specialised team in a demanding and dynamic environment.

In this role you will:

  • Oversee major policy and legislative projects, including statutory regulation remakes.
  • Provide strategic, whole of government advice on key environmental and natural resource management issues.
  • Deliver Tasmanian Government priorities, including ministerials and complex stakeholder dynamics with professionalism and sound judgement.
  • Manage a high-performing policy and project team, supporting capability, development and effective delivery.
  • Drive high-quality research, analysis and advice to inform evidence-based decision making across the Department.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).

Desirable requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a policy related or natural resource management discipline.
  • A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
