Grand Valley State University (GVSU) invites applications for the position of Executive Director for the Michigan Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the Executive Director is responsible for program development, its implementation, success and impact, reflective of the SBA initiatives and requirements. Part-time Adjunct Project Archivist - The Johnson Center for Philanthropy Allendale, Detroit, Grand Rapids
The Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University, as part of its ongoing commitment to document the history of philanthropy in Michigan, seeks a Project Archivist for foundation records. This position is responsible for all activities related to preserving and providing access to a private foundation client’s records. The individual in this position reports to the Director of the Johnson Center’s Institute for Foundation and Donor Learning with project guidance from GVSU University Archivist. The Project Archivist – Adjunct AP position is half-time, 20 hours per week based at GVSU’s Detroit Center. This position is a one year appointment with a possibility of renewal for a second year.
Adjunct Postdoctoral Fellow - Pathophysiology of Parkinson's disease Grand Rapids
Grand Valley State University has an open, funded Postdoctoral Fellow position to support a collaboration of GVSU’s Merritt DeLano-Taylor PhD and the Van Andel Research Institute’s Patrik Brundin MD PhD. The collaboration focuses on pathogenetic mechanisms and pharmacological treatment in cell and animal models of Parkinson's disease. The team also studies cell replacement therapy with stem cells in attempts to repair brains in animal models of parkinsonism. The group's mission is to understand neurodegenerative diseases and develop new therapies that are of benefit to patients and their caregivers. Recently, the Brundin lab been involved in one of the most promising developments for a cure, or at least progress in fighting Parkinson’s disease. A new investigational drug originally developed for type 2 diabetes is being readied for human clinical trials in search of the world's first treatment to impede the progression of Parkinson's disease following publication of the lab’s new research. The postdoctoral position is available immediately and is for a motivated scientist who meets the qualifications and description outlined below. The fellow will investigate the contribution of a transcription factor to the pathophysiology of Parkinson’s disease. Specifically, we are interested in candidates with a background in neuroscience and Parkinson’s disease.
