Overview:
Responsible to conceptualize and execute on sales and sponsorship programs that maximize profit margins and revenue targets. Direct the development of a comprehensive external plan for revenue generation for corporate partnerships with emphasis on revenue production and image enhancement. This includes identifying potential corporate partners, developing proposals, and securing contracts for all sports within the department of athletics. Responsible for strategic development and enhancement of partner relationships; leveraging and advertising of the department; strategizing and analyzing techniques to advance corporate involvement and sales; and identifying key decisions and opportunities to promote and enhance the ability to reach long-term goals. Reports directly to the senior associate athletics director for development.
Responsibilities:
- Builds relationships with current corporate partners seeking their input on strategies to enhance existing elements of their contracts.
- Leverages and promotes the visibility of the department of athletics to seek additional corporate support from local, regional, and national businesses.
- Develops and implements strategies to increase corporate involvement through ticket opportunities, corporate nights, and hospitality events.
- Engages and consults with corporate partners regularly, promoting quality customer service and contract fulfillment.
- Identifies opportunities and establishes corporate partner relationships to enable the development of marketing and advertising opportunities.
- Serves as the department’s primary liaison with external corporate partner entities, in coordination with the senior associate athletic director for development and the division of institutional advancement.
- Plans and implements revenue funding techniques to enable long-term strategic plans.
- Ensures corporate partnerships are compliant with NCAA, Conference and University rules and regulations regarding corporate partnerships and use of student-athlete likeness.
- Responsible for securing radio and television packages.
- Assists the department of athletics in all game day and special event promotions, specifically engaging sponsors to participate and attend these events.
- Responsible for working and attending events and promotions including occasional nights, weekends and holidays.
- Responsible for cultivating and building a good working relationship with different personnel and departments within RMU and the surrounding Pittsburgh region.
- Performs other duties and assists with special projects as directed by the director of athletics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in business administration, marketing or a related field.
- From an accredited institution of higher education required.
- Master’s Degree in business administration, marketing or a related field. From an accredited institution of higher education preferred.
- Three (3) years experience in corporate sales, development, or marketing and promotions in either the collegiate, professional or sports marketing field required.
- Three (3) years experience in corporate sales, development, and/or marketing and promotions, including previous administrative experience at a NCAA Division I or Division II institution preferred.
- Writing, sales and communication.
