Responsible for planning, developing and implementing Drupal-based websites and interactive media for the University. Enthusiastic, resourceful and detail-oriented individual to collaborate with a small team of technologists, designers, writers and marketers to create and launch engaging projects focused on telling Lehigh's story, enhancing the institution's reputation, recruiting students, and fundraising. 1. Manages production of University's key strategic websites including Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid; internet communications, such as digital publications of the Alumni Magazine, Research Review and Viewbook; and University initiatives, such as strategic plans and campaigns
*Develops, publishes and sustains prioritized areas of the University's website and other forms of interactive and electronic communications based upon supplied project requirements and in cooperation with University Administration and within area of Internet Services responsibilities to attain desired goals
*Utilizes the most up-to-date technology to enable web content to automatically adapt to fit the screen size, platform and orientation of desktop computers, tablets, smartphone devices concurrently by using best practice Responsive Web Design techniques
*Manages the day-to-day process to ensure that Web content is up-to-date, accurate and accessible; monitors institutional website content and recommends improvements to partners or supervisor; reviews website content to identify and correct typographical errors, broken links, poorly-formed pages, inconsistencies in style, scale and presentation and to ensure message consistency and proper grammar throughout the website; utilizes licensed accessibility software and technologies and helps to ensure that institutional website meets accessibility guidelines and is compliant with federal and state regulations; performs necessary updates and enhancements and identifies critical issues in content regarding accessibility and takes steps to address them in a timely manner by using supported Content Management System (CMS)
*Ensures that output complies with University communication guidelines, visual design standards, technical integrity standards and markup validity, government regulations (including the Privacy of Student Records' Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)), University computing, privacy and security policies, standards and procedures and industry best practices; assists with defining and communicating these standards to University Communications and Public Affairs (UCPA) staff and partners
*Utilizes supported CMS and other software as required to create/revise textual and multimedia content and to program HTML, CSS code, and JavaScript; creates and executes templates, cascading style sheets and related programming and scripting required for website projects; programs interactive forms and scripting based on specifications, as needed
*Leads development of digital publication editions that utilize our news engine database to increase engagement with related stories and improve visibility and rank on search engines, such as Google; develops improved workflows with design and editorial and marketing teams to transform print-based brochures and digital editions into engaging online experiences
*Coordinates and integrates site functionality with print-based communications, back-end web databases, and internally created or vendor supplied software application, including APIs
*Ensures that source code, reference material, product documentation, style guides and project-related artwork are archived.
*Conducts website research and presents relevant findings to UCPA team and beyond, including compiles benchmark studies of competitor sites and evaluates website and digital edition analytics; designs and programs online surveys and helps to administer focus groups and/or usability tests to test design concepts and measure attitudes and customer effectiveness of websites and inform concept development, according to specifications provided by supervisor; interprets and communicates results
*Assists UCPA team in coordinating emergency and disaster recovery activities

2. Monitors and manages supported systems; serves as system administrator; and provides account administration, training and technical assistance for users of supported Drupal Content Management System (CMS) and public Events Calendar system
*Utilizes and continues to acquire advanced scripting language skills such as PHP and JavaScript, required to publish the Lehigh site on such supported platforms as Drupal
*Utilizes version control such as Git
*Works closely with University's web hosting system administrator to set up supported information architecture and configure workflow for the CMS and proactively manages platform throughout the lifecycle
*Manages content migrations, including news articles and webpages, to upgraded versions of supported CMS or to other platforms as required
*Monitors daily operational readiness of our supported CMS, Events Calendar and related communication tools; maintains product documentation and related source code supplied by application service providers and works with them to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and other content publishing issues related to the supported CMS and Events Calendar
*Initiates, manages and administers user authentication and access services for supported CMS and Events Calendar; develops and administers custom training programs and develops training aides as necessary so that UCPA staff and partners can create and update website content and event information; communicates best practices, tips and user guidelines to help authorized staff become proficient, effective and productive users of CMS and Events Calendar and ensure consistent brand character across the University website and helps UCPA staff and partners better plan, implement, monitor and manage the content they contribute
*Keeps abreast of new or changing technologies and best practices through continuing education

3. Utilizes best practice to consult with supervisor and other team members in terms of managing web and digital projects; helps to identify and analyze relevant goal for project and target audience, determine relevant content and appropriate functionality to be utilized, and analyze data requirements; helps to establish objectives and timelines for content and asset development regarding websites, digital editions, email solicitations and other interactive systems
*Works with supervisor to coordinate and facilitate initial meeting with partner as assigned
*Assists supervisor with identifying specific project requirements based upon ADDIE development model 
*Assists with the creation and execution of implementation plans and schedules
*Collaborates with design services to acquire relevant visual design assistance, photography, videography and art direction as required *Collaborates with marking team and content creators to create content outlines and acquire relevant content; brainstorms new sources of appropriate and engaging web content which supports high-profile institutional communication and strategic marketing to build awareness and visibility for the university
*Prepares and communicates other plans associated with website creation, such as UI/navigational schemes, wireframe prototypes and architecture documents, content matrices, style guides and procedural guides
*Assists with transformation of project specifications into functional prototype
*Assists with ensuring that comps and online prototypes are provided for internal review prior to partner review
*Assists with final production, testing and implementation of website or digital edition
*Maintains and reports weekly on status of assigned projects to supervisor, observes emerging trends and makes suggestions for continued improvement to existing processes and techniques

4. Performs troubleshooting activities and provides technical assistance related to overall web production and publishing issues
*Serves as the UCPA point of contact for troubleshooting content publishing-related issues
*Self-identifies, or collects information from partner staff and website visitors, about observed problems or technical issues related to web publishing and content
*Analyzes and evaluates reported or observed incidents or issues related to web publishing; makes recommendations and performs tasks to resolve technical issues and publishing-related issues and reports status to supervisor
*Administers, or assists with administration of, and participates in, the testing of new internally developed or vendor supplied systems, software upgrades and enhancements
*Compiles user feedback and replies promptly to all general website inquiries received related to UCPA initiatives

The duties of this position may allow the employee to work partially remote as deemed appropriate by their supervisor 


Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Computer Science, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Five to eight years related work experience

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to establish priorities while handling multiple projects

Excellent writing ability, attention to detail and organizational skills

Adept use of digital communication

Detail-oriented person with excellent grammar and proofreading skills

Experience providing technical assistance related to overall web production and publishing issues

Work experience with HTML, CSS, and JS frameworks, and Drupal site theming, building and configuration is preferred

Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
