Lehigh University, a prestigious institution renowned for its academic rigor and vibrant campus life, is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our Campus Safety Division as a Security Guard. This full-time, non-exempt staff position plays a vital role in maintaining a secure and welcoming environment for our diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.
As a Security Guard at Lehigh University, you will collaborate closely with the University Police Department to uphold the highest standards of safety and security. The Lehigh community takes seriously our commitment to antiracism and The Principles of our Equitable Community.
Position Number: S75000
This position is a Grade: 6 - 40 with an approximate salary range of $33,390-$40,080 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications.
Your primary responsibilities will involve:
• Responds to campus emergencies (e.g., accidents, behavioral, criminal, fire, medical, etc.)
• Checks and secures buildings i.e., inspects interiors, checks doors/windows and locks/unlocks buildings for special events
• First responder for all types of campus emergencies: accidents, behavioral, criminal, fire, medical, etc
• Familiarizes and participates in crime prevention activities and initiatives for students and/or other campus constituents
• Responsible for ensuring that all reports and incidents are recorded properly and professionally for each incident in a timely manner during the shift-same day of incident
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or the equivalent combination of education and experience
• 0-1 years of related work experience
• Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Willingness to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record

The duties of the position do not allow for a remote work option; the employee in this position will be required to work on campus where they can be fully accessible to the Lehigh community. This position works with minors and requires foot patrol in all weather conditions. This position is responsible for driving University-owned vehicles as a routine function, therefore a valid Driver’s License and a good driving record is required.
Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position.
