Lehigh University's Athletics Department seeks an exceptional Defensive Special Teams/Assistant Coach to help lead our proud football program. This exempt, full-time position offers the opportunity to shape student-athletes while advancing our competitive excellence in the Patriot League.

About the Opportunity

As Defensive Special Teams/Assistant Coach, you'll provide leadership across all program facets, advancing both the University's mission and Athletics Department goals. Your expertise will directly impact sport-specific coaching, recruitment, student-athlete development, program administration, and advancement initiatives within NCAA, Patriot League, and University frameworks.

Position Number: S88850

This position is a Grade: 9 - 40 with an approximate salary range of $55,200-$67,180 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the holistic development of student-athletes by advising, mentoring, motivating, and evaluating performance; fostering team cohesion, accountability, and character development; and contributing to retention and overall student-athlete success.
  • Collaborate on the end-to-end development of athletes and team performance by assisting in the planning, instruction, and continuous refinement of competitive strategies and training programs.
  • Execute end-to-end recruitment cycles by identifying, evaluating, and selecting high-caliber prospects through scouting, home visits, and a commitment to diverse talent acquisition.
  • Drive enrollment and program growth by building relationships with prospects and their families, promoting the university’s value, and coordinating strategic recruitment calendars and procedures.
  • Manage program operations and compliance by assisting with budget preparation, competition scheduling, and media proofing while ensuring strict adherence to NCAA, League, and Institutional regulations.
  • Support organizational excellence through the supervision and evaluation of diverse personnel, active participation in University meetings, and the strategic use of technology to streamline administrative workflows.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, media, and the broader community while actively contributing to fundraising efforts, departmental service, and continuous professional development.
  • Drive comprehensive student-athlete success by fostering an environment that prioritizes competitive achievement within the conference, exceptional academic performance and graduation rates, and the holistic personal development and recognition of every team member.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree; Master's Degree preferred
  • One to three years of related work experience
  • NCAA Certification required
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required
  • Experience as a student-athlete
