Assistant Project Manager - Facilities Department Join Lehigh University's Facilities team as an Assistant Project Manager and play an essential role in transforming our beautiful campus through strategic capital projects. This full-time exempt position offers the opportunity to support meaningful construction and renovation initiatives that directly impact student life and academic excellence.
About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Lead Project Manager, you'll support our planning and project management team across all phases of capital projects. From initial setup through final closeout, you'll work alongside experienced project managers on both small-scale improvements and major construction initiatives. Your contributions will ensure successful delivery of projects that enhance Lehigh's facilities and support our academic mission.
Position Number: S87800
This position is a Grade: 10 - 40 with an approximate salary range of $67,270-$81,830 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Support project managers with planning and execution, including assisting with schedules, budgets, scope development, and coordinating interior finishes, FF&E, and project moves.
- Prepare, organize, and distribute project documentation such as RFP packages, submittals, shop drawings, meeting materials, and project-related forms.
- Coordinate across university departments and assist with meetings, trainings, pre-bid walkthroughs, and occasional project tours.
- Manage project closeout and records, including reviewing project documents for completeness and ensuring proper archiving with planning and document control teams.
- Support project budget management, including developing estimates, tracking costs, updating financial records, and assisting with close-out activities.
- Review and reconcile invoices and collaborate with project managers and auditors to ensure accurate financial documentation and audit compliance.
- Lead and manage small projects from planning through closeout, including scoping, estimating, scheduling, and ensuring timely, on-budget, high-quality completion.
- Coordinate project execution by working with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams; conduct site visits, monitor progress and safety, and address field issues.
- Serve as the primary point of contact, maintaining stakeholder communication, managing project costs and invoices, and overseeing closeout tasks such as punch lists, warranties, and final billing.
Qualifications:
- Associates or Vocational/Technical Degree in Construction, Architecture, or Engineering; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Three to five years of related work experience
- Experience working in a construction/project management capacity
- Excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple projects simultaneously and track progress effectively
- Adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and project requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders
- Attention to detail for accurate project documentation, scheduling, and compliance tracking
