Regional Assistant Director, Texas - Join Lehigh University's Admissions Team

Lehigh University seeks a Regional Assistant Director for Texas to help build our next class of exceptional students. This full-time exempt position offers the opportunity to represent one of America's premier research universities while living and working in the Houston area.

About the opportunity

This role includes managing communication, recruitment, admission, and yield activities in Texas and assisting as needed with recruitment, yield, and admitted student events in other parts of the southern US. This position will work collaboratively at times with teams on campus (e.g., Communications, Diversity recruitment, Financial Aid, Enrollment Services, faculty, staff, and other constituents).

This position is a Grade: 8 - 40 with an approximate salary range of $47,570-$57,090 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regionally manage the Texas recruitment market including cultivation of relationships with external constituents such as prospective high school students, guidance counselors, local alumni, independent counselors, and representatives from community-based organizations.
  • Execute 12–15 weeks of regional travel to conduct high school visits, CBO outreach, and occasional out-of-state recruitment to expand the university's presence.
  • Plan and lead in-person and virtual recruitment events, workshops, and interviews, ensuring consistent follow-up communication to build strong connections with prospective applicants.
  • Evaluate admissions applications using a rubric that balances academic performance and institutional values, maintaining a high-volume review schedule for five months of the year.
  • Interpret diverse domestic and international grading systems to assess a student's potential for success and identify top candidates for merit and special scholarships.
  • Organize and lead high-impact recruitment programs, delivering professional presentations to diverse audiences both in-person and through virtual platforms.
  • Conduct individual student interviews and provide expert guidance to families and counselors regarding admission policies, financial aid, and university procedures.
  • Develop targeted communication plans for the Texas market and manage a peer network program to connect prospective students with current students to drive enrollment yield.
  • Represent the university at professional conferences and mobilize faculty, staff, and alumni to engage prospective students and enhance recruitment efforts.
  • Maintain a strong connection to the home campus by traveling for essential training, application review, and key events, while remaining adaptable to evolving in-person and virtual duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 1-3 years of experience in Admissions or related education work (e.g., financial aid, school counseling, etc.)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends and extensive travel
  • Previous experience working in Admissions in Texas
  • Previous experience as a regionally based Admissions representative
  • Reliable personal transportation and valid driving license with good driving record
  • Work well both on a team and independently as a self-starter
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
