Lehigh University's Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics (MEM) is looking for an organized and detail-driven Academic Coordinator to keep its undergraduate programs running smoothly from curriculum planning and accreditation to faculty support and student engagement.
Position Number: S77000
This position is a Grade: 8 - 37.5 with an approximate salary range of $44,600 - $53,530 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational leadership for undergraduate program administration, including curriculum updates, course scheduling, and line scheduling workflows in Banner.
- Guide domestic, transfer, and international undergraduate students through registration issues, petitions, university procedures, and academic progression requirements.
- Coordinate operational support for ABET accreditation and continuous improvement efforts, including the collection, organization, and management of course assessment documentation.
- Provide high-level administrative support to the Department Chair and Associate Chair, utilizing independent judgment to resolve day-to-day operational issues and manage confidential records.
- Facilitate faculty recruitment and search processes, managing job advertisements, applicant communications, travel logistics, and interview itineraries.
- Plan and execute major departmental events, including undergraduate recruitment days, Major Declaration Day, seminar series, and Advisory Council activities.
- Lead undergraduate outreach and communications by creating digital and print promotional materials, managing department/faculty web content, and increasing program visibility.
- Extract and analyze academic program data, learning outcome surveys, and course evaluations utilizing university systems like Banner and Argos.
- Monitor operational budgets and expenditures for events and outreach, while managing office inventory, supply ordering, and classroom resource needs.
- Serve as a primary departmental ambassador to prospective students and families, discussing academic opportunities, programs, and the student experience.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or the equivalent combination of education and experience; Associates Degree preferred
- Five to eight years of related work experience
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing professional correspondence and reports
- Proficiency with office and data management tools; familiarity with university systems such as Banner or similar platforms is an advantage
- A collaborative working style suited to a department where faculty, students, and administrative staff rely on each other daily
- Experience supporting accreditation, assessment, or curriculum processes in a higher education setting is highly regarded
