Position Summary:

Yeshiva University (YU) invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for Dean of the Wurzweiler School of Social Work (WSSW). Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean will provide strategic intellectual leadership and administrative oversight to the Wurzweiler School, a nationally prominent graduate school of social work. The new Dean will assume office by July 1, 2023.

About the Dean of the Wurzweiler School of Social Work

The Dean is responsible for providing leadership, continuing the extraordinary enrollment growth and creative programming the school has become known for and affirming the Wurzweiler School’s mission to train highly competent social workers who reflect the Jewish values and mission of Yeshiva University. The Dean’s additional responsibilities include strategic planning, supervision of program directors and faculty, enrollment management, financial and strategic planning, faculty and staff development, and promotion and tenure. The Dean will serve as the University liaison with external Social Work bodies on matters relating to professional standards, accreditation reviews, public relations, and marketing of the school. Promising candidates should have the ability and disposition to lead efforts in substantive fundraising.

Required Qualifications:
  • An MSW is required
  • A required doctorate in Social Work or a related field as well as other qualifications appropriate for appointment as a tenured member of the faculty, with a preference for candidates eligible for a full professorship
  • Prior experience in higher education, teaching and administration, as well as familiarity with the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards of the Council on Social Work Education along with at least 3 years prior senior administrative experience
  • Demonstrated evidence of scholarly achievement, grant acquisition, successful fundraising, and a commitment to student learning and cultural and ethnic diversity
