Position Summary:
|
This position will perform general groundskeeping maintenance within the university. Other personnel performing groundskeeping duties will work under the Senior Groundskeeper’s direction. The Senior Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining and improving site grounds. Assigned work such as mowing, trimming, leaf removal, de-icing, etc. may fluctuate by season Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by location based on university’s requirements and needs.

Position Responsibilities:
|
- Maintain all grounds within the YC campus as determined by the university’s plan designs
- Seed, plant, fertilize, mow, weed
- Remove snow and ice as needed
- Remove trash from grounds, clean & maintain equipment, clean stairwells
- Operate various types of equipment including trucks, tractors and attachments used to maintain grounds, power mowers, saws, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, sprayers, etc.
- Assist the housekeeping managers to determine what equipment needs to be purchased to properly maintain grounds
- Supervise other employees performing groundskeeping functions
- Occasional evenings and weekend hours required to remove snow
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures
- Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager

Experience & Educational Background:
|
- HS diploma and 1-5 years related grounds experience
- Valid state issued drivers license
- Prior horticultural experience a plus, but not required
|
Skills & Competencies:
|
- Must be able to safely operate maintenance and grounds equipment with training including but not limited to salt spreaders, gas and electric grass cutters, hedgers, self propelled mowers/blowers, etc
- Must be able to physically lift boxes and bulk items such as furniture, supplies, etc. up to 50 lbs
- Good communication skills
- Standing, walking, stooping kneeling and crouching

Salary Range:

Grade 6
1199 New Hire rate:$25.38 and 1199 One Year of Service rate $25.90
