Position Summary:       

The Charles E. Scheidt Human Rights Clinical Teaching Fellowship is a one-year position with the possibility of a one-year renewal. The Fellow will work in the Benjamin B. Ferencz Human Rights and Atrocity Prevention Clinic and in the Cardozo Law Institute in Holocaust and Human Rights (CLIHHR).

Position Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director and working collaboratively with the other clinicians, the Fellow will:

  • Supervise student work on the Clinic’s cases and projects
  • Manage and develop existing human rights cases and projects
  • Develop future projects in partnership with NGOs, international criminal tribunals, and UN agencies
  • Work with the Director and other Clinic teachers to develop teaching materials and teach in the Clinic
  • Co-teach in the clinic seminar
  • Mentor students
  • Researching and writing
  • Assisting with Clinic cases and CLIHHR events

Experience & Educational Background:

  • A JD or equivalent
  • Strong academic record
  • Strong international human rights background, as exhibited by significant experience in human rights work and/or LL.M in international human rights
  • Experience or interest in teaching
  • Proven event planning, management and/or organizational skills
  • Minimum 2 years relevant legal experience since law school or significant professional experience prior to law school
  • Fluency in English is required. Candidates with fluency in additional languages are strongly preferred
