Position Summary:      

Floater performing various functions depending on the need of the shift, including cashiering, prepare food items, outgoing orders, serve food to customers, set up and clean up.

Position Responsibilities:

Identify prices of goods and tabulate price using cash register and/or calculator;

  • Issues receipts and/or change to customers;
  • Prepares sandwiches, pizzas and cold food platters; serves sandwiches, salads and hot foods; runs grill as necessary
  • Assists with prep in the catering area as well as the meat and dairy kitchen;
  • Buses tables;
  • Assists cooks and catering (meat/dairy/vegetable) with food preparation;
  • Prepares, sets up, clears and serves in hot food service area;
  • Serves on counter, as required.
  • Washes pots and/or dishes and other items as needed;
  • Empties garbage in dining room, kitchen and dishwashing area;
  • Puts away deliveries as needed;
  • Cleans, sweeps and mops dining/serving areas and floors;
  • Maintains coffee and display baked goods;
  • Keeps refrigerators and shelves stocked;
  • Refills and cleans counter as necessary;
  • Maintains a high level of sanitation;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience & Educational Background:

  • High School Diploma and 6 months to 1 year of related experience is required.
  • NYC Food Handler Certification preferred. 
  • Knowledge of Kosher dietary laws is preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

Good organization skills. Must be able to handle food according to established sanitary guidelines.

  • Speaks to clients and colleagues in a respectful and thoughtful manner.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Ability to lift up to 10-15 lbs.
  • Creative thinker with original ideas.

Salary Range:

Grade 4

1199 New Hire rate: $23.89

1199 One Year of Service rate: $24.37
