This position is a grade 10 with a minimum of $28,950 and mid-point of $38,600. Salary offer will be commensurate with the education/experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy, and the current CBA, if applicable.

Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs work of routine difficulty by assisting with the coordination of outreach and enrollment activities for the Department of Recruitment and Outreach Services Work is distinguished by the ability to maintain extensive documentation in the system of record. Direct supervision is received by the assigned manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Minimum of 30 semester hours completed at the postsecondary level.
  2. Good knowledge of District 509 and ECC’s communities
  3. Previous experience in a low resource setting
  4. Valid Illinois driver’s license and the ability to commute to offsite locations on a frequent basis.
  5. Considerable skill in organizing work to meet established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  6. Considerable skills in interpersonal interaction to be applied to a variety of individuals with differing education, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
  7. Working skills in verbal and written communication.
  8. Working skill in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Access and Publisher
  9. Working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment as well as learning and adapting to new and updated programs and technology.
  10. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when required by the department’s needs.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Community college experience.
  2. Bilingual Spanish/English.

Essential Duties:

  1. Assist with increasing enrollment through the expansion of outreach activities including participating in community events, building relationships with community resource agencies, providing peer awareness of ECC to community members via various outreach methods including visits and connecting to churches, small businesses, shops, stores, parks, etc., planning and leading community group sessions and discussions on assigned topics, making outreach calls to prospective students or assigned populations/businesses/community organizations. Plans and leads community group sessions and discussions on assigned topics. Actively participates in, and successfully completes, trainings. Performs all functions and activities within the guidelines of ECC’s mission.
  2. Review and determine the eligibility of potential participants, as necessary.  Makes referrals to ECC and follows up with individuals to provide encouragement and support. Assists individuals through the enrollment process, as needed, by conducting regular outreach to assigned student populations. Reduces fear of going to college by sharing their own educational experience. Brings awareness about the importance of education. Assists community members in accessing services provided by ECC. Tracks individuals’ progress through the enrollment process. Hold workshops and group discussions as requested/needed. Collaborate with various college departments to ensure participant's success (financial aid, student accounts, bookstore, and registration). Document interactions and outreach using appropriate assigned technology (e.g. Colleague, CRM, Excel, MS Office, etc.) according to college policy and protocol. 
  3. Assist with other assigned outreach activities to help increase enrollment. Other duties as assigned.
  4. Maintains required training, licensure and/or certifications
  5. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws
  6. Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
  7. Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
  8. Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality
