The Director of Health Informatics and Technology serves as a critical leader and hands-on expert within the University of Denver’s Health and Counseling Center (HCC). This position blends strategic vision with operational execution, overseeing all technology systems that support the clinical, administrative, and compliance functions of the HCC.
The Director provides direct support to clinical staff, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues, and leads the management of the electronic health record (EHR) system (Point and Click), server infrastructure, and security protocols. This role is responsible for developing and enforcing HIPAA-compliant IT policies, overseeing clinical coding and billing systems, and facilitating data-driven decision-making through reporting and performance analytics.
In addition to managing day-to-day IT operations, the Director partners with senior leadership to align technology strategies with the center’s evolving needs—supporting a shift toward a more efficient, private-practice-style healthcare model. The Director supervises the Assistant Director for Information and Systems and works collaboratively across departments to implement third-party billing systems, enhance clinical workflows, and support university-wide wellness initiatives. The role also leads administration of the National College Health Assessment (NCHA) and contributes to the development of health promotion efforts based on student needs.
