Starting Salary $100,277 plus an area allowance of $5772 plus 12% superannuation. In addition, you will be on an accelerated career progression.

About the role:
Take your trade to the next level through Hydro Tasmania’s structured training program, designed to prepare you for a career as an Operator Maintainer. Based in the Derwent Region, you’ll work across a variety of hydropower stations, each with its own unique story and contribution to Tasmania’s energy landscape. You’ll enter the program as a Trainee Operator, gaining hands-on experience and building key competencies through Hydro’s Training School. As you progress and reach program milestones, you’ll be signed off as an Operator Maintainer and rewarded with incremental increases in remuneration.
As an Operator Maintainer, you will be…
✓ Operating generating plant and equipment,
✓ Switching and reconfiguring switchyards,
✓ Managing headworks equipment and water flows,
✓ Isolating and commissioning equipment,
✓ Monitoring and reporting plant anomalies,

Who are you?
A qualified Electrician with a few years of experience in your trade who is ready to take your career to the next level and train to become an -operator and maintainer of our assets. You have experience working in a large manufacturing or industrial industry and can track down faults and diagnose problems in these environments, this will come in handy working inside our hydropower stations. You keep safety front of mind and are keen to elevate your trades skills and be part of something BIG! Your skills in fault finding and diagnosis in industrial settings, along with a strong safety mindset, will make you a valuable operator.
A Tasmanian Electrical Practitioners Licence is preferable, however interstate equivalent will be considered. You’ll also need a current driver’s licence and solid computer skills.
