About the Role:
We are seeking a Research Assistant to support the current wave of data collection for the Triple B Pregnancy Cohort Study. The Triple B Project is a large-scale longitudinal study that has followed a cohort of approximately 1,600 Australian families from pregnancy, examining how a broad range of biopsychosocial factors influence child and family health and development over time.
In early 2024, the project commenced a new adolescent follow-up involving young people aged 15–16 years and their parents. This wave focuses on mental health and wellbeing, peer and family relationships, substance use and other risk behaviours, as well as emerging areas including social media and technology use, vaping, and climate change–related concerns.
The Research Assistant will work under the supervision of the Senior Project Officer and senior investigators to support the adolescent follow-up, with a primary focus on participant management, including recruitment, follow-up, retention, and participant tracing. The role is integral to ensuring accurate, ethical, and high-quality data collection.
To Be Successful, you'll have:
• A degree in Psychology, Science, Health Sciences, or a related discipline
• Administrative and/or research experience, including database management (experience using REDCap is highly desirable)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience engaging research participants in recruitment, retention, and/or data collection
• Demonstrated capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Excellent organisational, time-management, and analytical problem-solving skills
Your key responsibilities will be to:
• Support data collection activities, including participant recruitment, follow-up, and ongoing engagement, in accordance with study protocols and guidelines
• Communicate with study participants, primarily via telephone, in a professional, respectful, and participant-centred manner
• Identify and respond to study-related issues and escalate matters to supervisors in a timely manner
• Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date records of participant information and study data using REDCap
• Assist with data entry tasks, ensuring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Assist with tracing and re-engagement of participants lost to follow-up
• Contribute to the improvement of research processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of data collection
• Other administrative duties as directed by the manager
