The Clinical Nurse/Midwife Educator role plays a pivotal role in the coordination of department education whilst providing direct clinical support, supervision, instruction and mentoring to Undergraduate students, graduate Nurses/Midwives and staff to ensure the delivery of safe, quality healthcare.

You will be required to:

  • Foster a positive culture of continuous quality improvement, including exemplary leadership practices and role-modelling behaviours, promoting cooperation and collaborative teamwork.
  • Participate in the strategic development of unit based culture that promotes and supports education, learning and workforce development that positively effects patient care outcomes.
  • Promote a learning environment through clinical support, instruction, and feedback for less experienced nursing staff, graduates and undergraduate students working in Maternity and Women’s Health Department.
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate the delivery of training to ensure excellent support and service to students to maximise successful outcomes
  • Develop and deliver clinical training sessions annually, tailored to feedback and best practices.
  • Ensure staff demonstrate improved competencies post-training through effective mentorship and supervision.
  • Regularly assess and adjust training programs to meet role-requisite education needs 
  • Maintain unit based records regarding training for Undergraduates, Graduates and Clinical Staff

 

 

About You

As an organised and efficient professional, you will demonstrate advanced skills in nursing assessment and highly developed clinical problem-solving skills. You will be a positive role model with a natural ability to mentor and support staff with an innovative approach to education delivery.

Desirable Skills:

  • Completion of a preceptorship program or working towards.
  • TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent or working towards.

Essential Skills:

  • Relevant Registered Nurse and Midwifery registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Extensive clinical skills and experience within the specialty
  • Excellent team-player
  • Ability to build and maintain positive rapport with students and colleagues
  • Solution-focused and positive attitude
  • Ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced and changing work environment
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • High level of computer software skills
  • Ability to plan, develop, promote, facilitate, monitor and evaluate training programs

  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, presentation and negotiation skills
