Lead the Future of Women’s Mental Health Care in Victoria

Are you a passionate mental health nurse leader ready to shape the future of care for women in Victoria? This is your opportunity to contribute to a sector-defining, innovative service that integrates public sector frameworks, trauma-informed care, and lived experience into every aspect of practice.

We’re seeking an experienced Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to join our large, multidisciplinary team in a new 24-bed Women’s Mental Health Unit, comprising:

  • 14 General Mental Health beds
  • 5 Eating Disorder beds
  • 5 Perinatal beds

This is a full-time leadership role working with patients who present with highly complex mental health needs, in a unit designed to provide gender-sensitive, recovery-oriented care.

About the Role

As ANUM, you will:

  • Lead and support care delivery aligned with public sector mental health frameworks, including Safewards, sexual safety principles, and lived experience-informed models.
  • Champion a trauma-informed, gender-responsive approach to care for women and those who identify as women.
  • Collaborate within a public-private partnership between Ramsay Healthcare and  Alfred Health delivering innovative care aligned with the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System recommendations for new models of care or bed-based services, and providing gender-based care.
  • Drive clinical excellence, team development, and continuous quality improvement in a complex, high-acuity environment.

About You

You are a confident and compassionate leader who thrives in complex clinical settings and is committed to progressive, evidence-based mental health care. You bring:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in mental health nursing
  • At least 2 years in a clinical leadership or supervisory role
  • Strong understanding of Safewards, sexual safety, and lived experience frameworks
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and uphold high standards of clinical governance
  • Postgraduate qualifications in mental health or leadership (highly regarded)
  • A genuine interest in working within a women-only unit and supporting gender-specific care

Remuneration

Base hourly rates in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement, plus superannuation. Penalty rates and allowances apply based on experience and qualifications.
