Role Overview
As part of the Pastoral Care team, your role involves delivering excellent pastoral care to patients, families and staff aligning with their unique needs and spiritual beliefs.
As a pastoral care practitioner, you will provide quality emotional and spiritual support for patients, families and staff members. You will apply professional approach that is inclusive of all cultures, belief systems and backgrounds.
Work Related Requirements, Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma level (or above) in a field relevant to the delivery of pastoral care
- Satisfactory completion of one or more units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent
- Up to three years of proven pastoral care experience with a demonstrated understanding of professional practice, ethics and boundaries (preferably in a healthcare setting)
- Evidence of endorsement by, and good standing in their faith tradition or faith community
- Demonstrated commitment to teamwork within an interdisciplinary and multi-faith context
- Demonstrated ability to provide pastoral support to patients, families and staff members from a variety of faith, cultural and social backgrounds
- Demonstrated strength in both oral and written communication, and IT
- Commitment to ongoing professional and personal development
- Provide pastoral care service on a rostered on-call basis
- Current ‘C’ or ‘C.A.’ class driver’s licence.
Desirable Requirements:
- Willingness to undertake membership with Spiritual Care Australia
- Bachelor level (3 year) degree in a relevant field
- Experience in providing training or education.
