Job Posting Title: Assistant Professor in Residence
INTRODUCTION
The Department of Psychological Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Connecticut invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Residence, non-tenure track, at the Avery Point Campus, to begin in the Spring of 2025.
The successful candidate should engage with the unique opportunities provided by the Avery Point campus but will also have opportunities to interact with colleagues at all University of Connecticut campuses. Candidates with background and teaching experience in Physiological Psychology, Drugs and Behavior, Sensation and Perception, Cognitive Psychology, Learning, or the Psychology of Language are especially encouraged to apply. Experience and/or willingness to teach research methods is a requirement. Interest in teaching about the impact of climate change and environment on human health and/or behavior is preferred. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses and work closely with the Psychological Sciences Undergraduate Advising Office in maintaining a caseload of advisees. The successful candidate may elect opportunities to engage in local, departmental, or university-wide service.
The successful candidate will provide a teaching portfolio for review that demonstrates expertise in instructing a diverse range of undergraduate students utilizing active and inclusive pedagogical practices and evidence of academic/career advising of undergraduate students. Faculty at the Avery Point campus join one of the graduate programs at the Storrs campus, https://grad.psych.uconn.edu/prospective/phd/overview/, but their activities will be centered on the Avery Point campus and undergraduate education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must provide a teaching portfolio documenting these experiences and commitment to be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Distinguished ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience in psychology.
- Evidence of excellence in advising or mentoring undergraduates.
- Evidence of an ability to continue previous research activity and/or engage in the scholarship of teaching and learning as it relates to psychology.
- Can articulate pedagogical directions linking psychology and climate change.
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position at the Avery Point Campus that may lead to long-term multi-year contracts dependent on performance and funding. This position has an anticipated start date of January 1, 2025. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The standard teaching load for this position is seven courses per academic year, or its equivalent.
