The Rotational Finance Fellowship within the Vice President for Finance senior management area is a 12-month cross-departmental hands-on learning and development experience for recent graduates or those new to Higher Education Administration. The Fellow will work in close collaboration with the managers within individual departments, which may include:
Budget and Financial Planning
Campus Planning & Capital Financing
Finance Information Technology
Hokie Passport Services
Procurement and Surplus Property
The Fellow will spend an assigned amount of time in rotations with different departments within the Division of Finance and have the opportunity to work on specific projects and assignments that will provide the fellow an excellent understanding of the university’s financial and administrative functions. The Fellow will assist with special project assignments, which vary based on the department’s role within the university. Projects may include the development of benchmark data, business analyses, presentations, reports, position papers and more. The Fellow will also serve as a member of the Vice President for Finance Inclusion & Diversity Committee and contribute to the Committee’s ongoing activities and operations.
For candidates who will hold a bachelor’s degree by December 31, 2021, the anticipated start date for the Fellowship is January 2021. For those graduating in May 2022, the targeted start date is in early June 2022.

• Bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in a business-related discipline or demonstrated interest in a career in a business environment
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Expressed interest in higher education administration
• Experience with statistical or data reporting and analysis
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Demonstrated interest in and commitment to diversity and inclusion
• Experience with flexing priorities and multi-tasking
• Experience working with confidential or sensitive information
• Leadership experience
• Ability to quickly adapt to changing work environments
