Supports departmental faculty members with copying of highly technical and complex course material and correspondence as well as any committee assignments they may have. Program support includes conveying programmatic information related to policies and procedures. Works with Lead Admin., faculty, and office staff in performing ongoing activities of the department. General support encompasses coordination of departmental faculty activities; creating spreadsheets; data entry; drafting, proofreading, and editing documents; assistance with committees as well as other duties assigned. Responsible for maintaining the department website, social media, and fiscal tasks assigned by Lead Admin.
Previous experience providing administrative support in an academic or professional office environment; experience with computer software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and email; strong organizational skills; ability to work independently while functioning as a team member; strong interpersonal and communications skills for positive interactions with both external and internal clients; managing confidential files and materials; ability to work with detailed information; demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple deadlines while maintaining attention to detail; strong competency in writing, grammar, composition, and proofreading; demonstrated proficiency with software such as MS Word and Excel; experience with Windows Operating System, Banner, internet browsers, email programs and scheduling software.
Higher education coursework demonstrating knowledge of collegiate programs desired. Experience supporting higher education academic programs or knowledge of the operations of an academic office is highly desired. Knowledge of university policies and procedures. Working knowledge of HokieMart, Chrome River, CashNet and the Banner system desired.
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check as well as documentation of COVID-19 vaccination or receive approval from the university for a vaccination exemption due to a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief.
