WVTF Public Radio and RADIO IQ seek an experienced, detail-oriented broadcaster to provide support in various areas including: conducting interviews; producing news stories; updating content for air, website and social media; producing and voicing local newscasts; gathering continuity/promos; producing and voicing weather forecasts; participating in on-air fundraising as well as assisting with monitoring of the stations programing streams originating from our Roanoke broadcast center. The ideal candidate will also serve as a backup to local news hosts and as a newsroom manager in the absence of the News Director.
Significant experience in a professional newsroom; strong computer skills including audio production and editing; demonstrated knowledge of news writing and reporting; website content posting and management and experience with studio and field broadcast equipment. The candidate should possess a professional sound in both live and recorded work, strong communications skills and the ability to work under deadline pressure. Candidate must be able to work various newsroom shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
Experience in copy-editing and managing newsroom assignments. Familiarity with the geographic coverage area. Public radio experience.
